Traditional Feng Shui looks at your entire living environment

About Feng Shui

What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is often referred to in the West as the Art of Placement.
In Vicki's view, and according to traditional Chinese Feng Shui, it is much more than merely placing your furniture in auspicious areas to manage Qi flow, as popularised by many books and magazines.

Understanding Qi

Traditional Feng Shui (which is the form that Vicki practices) is the science and art of Chi/Qi (energy) detection and analysis.
Qi can be described as the life force, the essence, the wind, the movement of energies. The forces that arise from the earth, that touch the earth and nourish the earth as well as tear it apart in events such as earthquakes.
When Vicki does an analysis of a property she examines all the aspects of Qi that are apparent to both the naked eye and as measured with the Chinese Geomantic compass (called a Luopan).

Qi Movements

Qi has many movements. It arises from the earth. It descends from the heavens and it moves through the air or on the horizontal plane. In Traditional Feng Shui we evaluate the different movements of Qi and how much force or what impact they will have on the client and the people in the building. The movement of Qi includes the movement of the magnetic poles through the millennia. It also includes the changing cycles.

In and out of favour

There was a big movement in these cycles that started around 2002/2003 and was fully formed in February 2004. Places built in the period of 7 (1984 – 2003) have now passed out of ‘favour’, or are now ‘out of time’. It is possible to track these changes when looking at cities and villages where you can see areas that are ‘renewed’ or ‘coming into favour’ and areas that are going into decline.

Renewal

Proximity to CBD or other centralising elements are not the key factor in these rejuvenations. If you draw a circle out from your city you will note that some areas grew much more significantly than others in the last 20 years. Do not mistake house price for this renewal. Look at areas that grew in density and exhibited the strongest growth, e.g. the Western Districts of Sydney in the period of 7.

Understanding the Qi cycles

With a consultation you can ‘refresh’ the energies by looking at the ‘mouth of Qi’ or the door and windows of the building. In other words you can bring your property into the current cycle – harnessing the appropriate energies for you, your family, employees and clients or guests.

waterways are an intrinsic part of traditional feng shui

Feng Shui, Tao, I Ching, Landform

Traditional Feng Shui is intrinsically and in Vicki’s view inextricably intertwined with The Tao (Dao), the I Ching (Yi Jing), the Chinese geomantic compass or Luopan and the landform. Landform includes topography, waterways, winds, climatology and geology to name a few. It includes sunlight. It includes the season. It includes hills, mountains, roads, water, colour, shape and many other factors.

Categories of Qi

There are 3 categories of Qi that are regarded as important. They are classified as:

In translation – what we nurture in our hearts will colour and influence what we experience in life.

Genesis of Traditional Feng Shui

Demise of a dynasty

In any arcane tradition there is myth and there is fact. One of the facts is that, with the assistance of Feng Shui Masters of the Land form and compass schools, long imperial dynasties were founded that survived centuries.
Indeed some say that the demise of the Ming dynasty was because the seat of government was moved from Nanjing to Beijing. A very valid question to ask is ‘how come the British and Americans were able to over-run the Imperial Palace in Beijing in November 1899 to September 1901’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_Rebellion) Vicki believes that the loss of ‘heart’ by the emperors for the previous 3 generations meant that they had forfeited their storehouse of karmic benevolence.
The dynasty had become incredibly corrupt and was no longer ruling for all the people from a heart of benevolence and wisdom. Even the most perfect Feng Shui cannot overcome a heart that is cold and lacking dignity and respect for all sentient beings.

Lineage

It is said that some of the greatest Feng Shui masters travelled the land incognito. They did not have large teaching schools. Sometimes they only took one or two students if any at all. They wrote very few texts. Those they did write are difficult to decode. They were often written in allegorical language and required a 'master' to help decode them.

Text Translations

Some of the schools in the West are based on people reading these classics, translating them and then developing Feng Shui schools based on these texts without studying with a master. For the uninitiated these texts are full of pitfalls and erroneous judgements. Although in our times there are wealthy Feng Shui ‘masters’, this was not so in times past – Feng Shui Masters would regard their ‘calling’ as a sacred and awesome responsibility. They were often mendicants – travelling from one city or town to another, doing as much good as they could along the way.

Studying with the Masters

Vicki regards one person as her master and she gives her allegiance to that school - the National Academy of Feng Shui Australia (NAFSA). The school is under the auspices of Master Henry Liu. He is a 4th generation Feng Shui Master. He has lived and worked in Australia in the past decade. Whilst residing in our country Master Liu studied our unique Australian conditions and has analysed them in relation to traditional Feng Shui. In 2000, Vicki was privileged to meet Master Liu's Master and study with him on a trip to China.

Ongoing support in Australia

Vicki's friend, mentor and colleague is Melynda Munro who is Master Henry Liu's principal student. Master Liu, Melynda, and the Academy provide all members Australia-wide with on-going support, training and advanced courses of study, including tours to China.

She would also like to acknowledge other significant Feng Shui teachers she has studied with. They include:

Vicki continues to study and participate in alliances that see her continuing to refine, and hone her already well-developed skills.

Traditional Feng Shui meets the Western mind

In most places on Earth we live in very dense environments with many stressors that impact upon us - Feng Shui can help us create a haven, a sanctuary to enable us to regenerate and renew.

Quantum Physics meets Feng Shui

Some people who rely on a Newtonian analysis of the physical world think that means they must perforce reject Feng Shui. This is based in a most narrow view of Feng Shui. Often people have little or no knowledge of Traditional Feng Shui, they just know about ‘Junk Food Feng Shui’. Traditional Feng Shui does not include Ba Gua mirrors, crystal balls and such.

It is only at the quantum level that you can truly understand Traditional Feng Shui. For a more complete evaluation of where quantum physics meets Traditional Feng Shui you can purchase the e-book – Feng Shui, Vibrational Healing, Understanding Qi and the companion manual- Feng Shui, Vibrational Healing, the Remedies.

When to use Feng Shui

When you are ready to move! This can be a move in either the energy in your home or work surrounds, or your personal 'Qi'. Vicki invites you to consider a consultation when things are going well or when things are in a state of flux, or when you reach a decision node. Contact Vicki to find out more.

Improving Prosperity

Of all the subjects written about in Feng Shui, this is the most heavily promoted. You know in many esoteric traditions there is the idea that you are allocated a finite amount of financial prosperity. If you ‘overdraw it’ in one part of your life you will deplete the reserve for the next part of your life. We can certainly help people understand prosperity with Feng Shui and re-direct energy so more comes into your ‘mouth of chi’ or front door, but we certainly can’t make you a millionaire or wealthy beyond your dreams.

With Chinese Astrology we can also see if you are in wealth luck, or power luck, or resource or education luck. There are certainly times when working for someone else is the better option than trying to set up your own business with all the peaks and troughs of cash flow. If we see prosperity in all its raiments – such as health, wellbeing, good relationships then prosperity is much more rounded than just money energy or money chi. Sure we all have to pay our bills, feed ourselves and our dependants and get around to our employment but if we do not see that prosperity is greater than just this money chi then we are blinkered and limited and will end up with ulcers, heart disease, cancers and such because we did not protect the greatest of our assets our immune system and adrenal system – stress is a major factor in all illnesses.

Improving Relationships

  • Rat clashes with horse
  • Ox clashes with sheep
  • Tiger clashes with monkey
  • Rabbit clashes with rooster
  • Dragon clashes with dog
  • Snake clashes with pig
  • And vice versa

You know that the people you live with can be the greatest teachers. So many times our children, our spouses, our in-laws, siblings etc can stimulate a whole range of emotions in us. Sometimes these feelings or emotions become overwhelming and we want to break free, break out or break away. Instead of making radical changes to our life circumstances we can always get help or assistance from someone. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh eye or a new ear to help solve things which had seemed overwhelming or inevitable just yesterday. Sometimes you are in a clash year and problems seem large and impenetrable. For example if you are born in the year of the snake then 2007 is a clash year for you because it is the year of the pig. 2008 will be the year of the rat and horses can be under pressure. 2009 will be the year of the ox and sheep or goats will be under pressure. These are known as koong or ke years.

Without fail in the year of clash I get more clients drawn from the clash group than any other kind. In general I have more clients born in the year of the snake (because they are known for their intuition) and curiously they are more likely to be men, although of the 500 plus clients I have, the greater number are women.

The mystery of the valley

is female.

It is the emptiness in woman

and the fullness of the Great Mother,

The endless source of everything

and the generosity of all that is.

Although hidden,

it is everywhere.

To enter it,

simply empty.

Be used by it,

and it will not fail.
