I have to say I kind of got it right and I kind of got it wrong didn't I.
The people who got it badly wrong were the pollsters who predicted a Clinton win - well she did and she didn't win to be factual.
Just with Brexit, the Australian 2016 election and the 2016 US election was a mixed bag. The Trumpster is President elect of the USA but Hilary won the popular vote! I am sorry, I've got no idea how the American electoral system works at all - responding to all of you out there who are asking! They seem to have some sort of fusion of electronic voting and good old paper. How you do a recount with the electronic system I just do not know and there will be some disputation around the results.
So, to this month's article which I want to frame up around this article I am currently reading (as it is quite long). It is about Capgras Syndrome. Here is a link to the article if you want a really good read.
Reading the article took me to how people around me are reacting to the result. They are taking it very personally, they are wanting to move to Trinidad, Tasmania or Timbuktu to escape what they see as the rise of the visigoths. But the pendulum always swings back and forth, back and forth we just have to measure over the longer term, not the short term.
Fear is a great trigger to reactivity and generating or responding to life's circumstances in a fearful state or with a fearful heart is painful and can lead to paralysis. We become automatons in our own life, stumbling around deluded into thinking that we are somehow living in a parallel universe and that everyone is a duplicate and intent on harm is very exhausting. Most of us would reject out of hand the idea that our life functions like this, but sitting in the subtle realms of our consciousness can be the shadows of the doppelgänger / capgras syndrome.
Only when we take ourselves deeper into a state of grace, compassion and benevolence can we build true resilience.
Come out from under the doona, come out from the shadows and live a full life despite the noise and rhetoric that surrounds us. When our compass is set to the right direction we know deep within when we are living an authentic life.
